Canon Cinema EOS System has improved and professional reference monitor 4K introducing new firmware that will allow for more efficient production of standard 4K. Free update will be available for the EOS C500 camera, monitor, DP-V3010 software and Canon RAW Development.
Support ITU-R BT.2020 for the EOS C500 and DP-V3010
4K Camera EOS C500 and Reference Monitor 4K DP-V3010 will be able to handle the color space of the ITU-R BT.2020, recently defined by the International Telecommunication Union (International Telecommunication Union – ITU). The update will provide a new option ITU-R BT.2020, which allows the camera to record C500 compatible UltraHD (UHD). This will help to achieve greater accuracy and increase efficiency in the production of TV professionals UHD directly in the field or later in post-production. BT.2020 standard signals are mapped to the native color space of the monitor DP-V3010, implementing the latest variation of the luminance signal and the color difference defined by the ITU. This will ensure that images are the widest possible color space and the greatest possible accuracy.

New update for DP-V3010 also supports standard transfer ACESproxy – generally accepted in Hollywood and recommended by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) – easier and faster color correction.
New update also supports color spaces Gamut Cinema and DCI-P3 + used in the EOS C500 camera, which makes it easier to monitor and work in post-production. The footage can be displayed with optimal conversion to monitor both the DCI-P3 and BT.709. Added also sampling the luminance and chrominance YCbCr 4: 4: 4 used in digital film productions, and a new feature peaking for focus assist, which highlights the contour of the object in the center of the field of view and facilitates accurate assessment of the focusing point when recording.
Software update for the DP-V3010 makes it the first professional digital 4K monitor increasingly cooperating with the movies at 48 frames per second.

EOS C500 camera users will get the updated version of the software for processing RAW files – Canon Cinema RAW Development (CRD). To facilitate working with RAW files at a resolution of 4K, the new version 1.3 for the EOS C500 has functions to convert the color space gamut Cinema or DCI-P3 + to universal industry standards defined by ITU-R BT.709 and DCI-P3. The ability to derive the starting material conforming to the standard color spaces allows users to view material on the existing monitors and ultimately saving time.
